Air Conditioning Inspections

Does your building have air conditioning?
If so, then this information is important to you!

Why do you need to have your air conditioning inspected?

In England and Wales the Energy Performance of Buildings (EPB) Regulation 20 implements Article 9 of the European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD)(*1) requires that inspections are carried out on all air conditioning systems as follows;

As from 4th January 2011, it became mandatory for any air conditioning systems with an accumulative total of over 12kw, or any single air conditioning system above 12kw to have an air conditioning inspection.

What will your report detail?

The mandatory requirement is to give information about the plant, its operation and its performance. The inspection process is largely none invasive. However, detailed information such as commissioning data, building log books and controls details are required.

The intention of your report is to identify opportunities to save energy and reduce operating costs. Your assessor will compile system information including:

  • An examination of the complete refrigeration plant
  • An examination of the air movement plant
  • An inspection of service and maintenance records
  • Recommendations on how the system and operation could be improved
